Terms of Service

signator.ai's reports — including the disclosure verdict, reasoning, and recommended action — are generated by a decision tree encoding a non-lawyer-reviewed reading of Article 50 of the EU AI Act, based on the European Commission's published guidance. They are informational only and are not legal advice, and using this tool does not create a lawyer-client relationship of any kind. For an actual legal determination about your specific situation, talk to a lawyer.

The service checks an uploaded image across three independent layers — provenance (C2PA manifest, if present), AI-detection (a third-party probabilistic classifier), and a deterministic disclosure assessment — and returns all three separately, never blended into one score. Detection scores are estimates, not certainties, and accuracy varies by generator, compression, and edits. Where the available context isn't enough to reach a real answer, the service returns "cannot-determine" rather than guessing — that is a valid, expected outcome, not a bug.

The service currently supports images only (JPEG, PNG, WebP, up to 10MB). Video and audio are not supported yet.

signator.ai is an early beta, offered free during this period. Features, rate limits, the underlying decision logic, and the service itself may change or be discontinued without notice. We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or availability.

You must be at least 16 years old to use this service, consistent with our Privacy Policy. By using signator.ai you confirm you meet this requirement.

You agree not to:

• Upload content you don't have the right to upload, or that is illegal to possess or distribute.
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, upload validation, or other technical controls.
• Use the service to build a competing detection or disclosure product by systematically extracting our outputs.
• Interfere with the service's operation or attempt to access another user's account or saved reports.

You retain ownership of any image you upload. By uploading it, you grant us the limited right to process, store, and transmit it to the third-party services described in our Privacy Policy solely to run the check and return your report. We don't use your images to train any model.

You confirm you have the right to upload each image you submit. If you believe an image processed or stored by signator.ai infringes your copyright, email hello@signator.ai with (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) the location of the material on our service, and (c) your contact details, and we will investigate and remove it where warranted.

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or merchantability. We do not warrant that the detection layer will correctly identify AI-generated or AI-edited content, or that the disclosure assessment matches how a regulator or court would apply Article 50 to your specific case.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, signator.ai and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including regulatory penalties, fines, or legal costs resulting from reliance on a report. You are responsible for your own compliance decisions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for fraud or, where applicable, gross negligence).

You agree to indemnify and hold signator.ai harmless from any claim arising from your violation of these terms, your uploaded content, or your use of the service in a way that infringes a third party's rights.

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of the acceptable-use section above, or discontinue the service entirely during this beta, with notice where reasonably possible.

[Governing law and jurisdiction to be added here once the operating entity and country are confirmed] — we're not naming a jurisdiction we haven't confirmed, consistent with the controller-identity placeholder in our Privacy Policy. This does not remove any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and signator.ai regarding the service.

We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
